Saber Blog Update (6/24/21)

Time for another blog update!

I know I had said that I was going to try and do this every week, but I have just been so swamped with real life. It’s been rather difficult to maintain three comics and a routine blog at the same time. Honestly, I wish I had the energy to work on more animations too.

I think I’m going to use this blog as a good place to talk about art, animations, or other projects that I haven’t had a chance to go into detail about. There are somethings that I won’t post in more public places, it just depends on the nature of the image. So I suggest following me on various platforms if you want to get the entire scope of everything I do.

This week I have four fun art pieces to share. Two of them are commissions I did for other people.

So the first image is a brand new Icon/Avatar I wanted to use for various social media and art sites. That excludes this main site, which you might have noticed has a different icon whenever I comment. It’s the very first Official image of Light Lux Collie, so I’ve grown quite found of it. I like to use it here as a reminder of his origins. I didn’t really like my last icon, It didn’t show up and barely anyone could tell what it was. This one puts emphasis on his eyes and you can see him in all his goofy sabertooth glory. BTW, In a close up shot like this one, you can see that Light Lux Collie has brown eyes, even though he is usually drawn with basic black ovals. This is slightly based off of me in real life. I’ve always had super dark brown eyes. When I was little, people thought they were black.

The second image is a new design for Faye/Flynn Fletcher, the hero and protagonist of Denatured. Since the the comic is rapidly approaching a new point in the story, I needed to come up with a universal clothing design for Faye. She can’t always be wearing a cheer outfit. Her clothes will vary depending on the situation, but I feel she needs an outfit that she’ll wear most of the time when she’s just hanging outside of school. I wanted to make something that would be tomboyish (for obvious reasons) yet still cute and feminine. I had one design at first, but I chose to go with this one instead, since the original one didn’t really emphasize Faye as a teenager. This one makes her look a little more like she’s in the 80’s, but I’m ok with that. Not the biggest fan of this generations fashion choices. She doesn’t want to wear too many clothes, since she is covered in fur and it gets really hot. She doesn’t wear shoes either, since her big wolf feet and claws easily destroy them. I also wanted to make it look a little like she’s recycling her old wardrobe and modifying them into useable outfits. I think I like the bow design. I originally had a small bow in her hair, but this one ties her hair back and fits the character more. Now the design or color of the bow could change depending on the situation. It will be maroon when she’s in her cheer outfit. I also liked the idea of having an American Flag bow. I think it looks nice. Anyways, comment and let me know what you think of her new outfit.

We also have two separate images I did as commissions. One for Faros and the other for Crosis278. The first one was a really fun one to do because I personally find it funny. It’s a parody of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure meme. “Oh, you’re approaching me?” It features yours truly, Light Lux Collie as JoJo and Quin, who belongs to Faros as Dio. I definitely enjoyed doing this one.

The other one was a commission I did for Crosis278. This features their character Chinook and Vivian from Animal Crossing getting into a potential PG-13 type situation. I like this one, I felt the characters were cute to draw. I have to be a little careful which images I post certain places. So you might not see this one on other platforms, even though it is SFW. But I did have fun drawing it and would be willing to draw this again.

Hopefully next time I’ll have some fun transformation related projects to show you. Working on a couple right now. I know people are very into those things. :)

Check out this awesome fan art done by Rush Fox. Part of an AT I did with them featuring Light performing a magic trick with Fritz acting as the the rabbit. Meanwhile a certain pink someone lurks in the background…

Oh, BTW, I recently decided to make a gallery on the site to showcase any fanart, trades, commissions, etc. Link This is any art done by others. I usually don’t get to showcase these anywhere, so I thought it might be a fun idea to have a gallery specifically dedicated that purpose. I’ve started accumulate a decent collection.
