Huzzah! Another News Update! (2/5/20)

Huzzah! Another News Update! (2/5/20)

Hello wonderful saber collie family!

How is everyone? I am back at it again with a full force of crazyness.

So just some quick news updates.

First, If you have subscribed to the newsletter in the last two weeks. Double check to see if you are actually subscribed. Mailchimp, who I use for my emails, had some connection issues lately and I had some notifications that said some people weren’t saved to the email list.

Second, you may have noticed that I added an animation tab to the website. I encourage you to check out the animations I have been working on for DBU. Also subscribe the Saber Collie Studios YouTube channel to stay up to date. You’ll see more of these as time goes on. My eventual goal is to start bringing my own characters to life. I definitely wouldn’t be apposed to creating some animated comics, something that I might experiment with in the future.

Finally, In order for me to have a more consistent post schedule. I am going to be rotating which comics I post each week. Having two updates a week, just isn’t feasible for me at this time. So instead, I will only be doing one update per week. This week was Comic-Comic, while next week will be Denatured. So if you only follow one or the other, just know that the updates will be every other week for both comics.

Well that’s all I have for you at the moment. Hope everyone has a fantastic rest of your week!

Light Lux Collie

Here, have a feesh.

Update 12/19/19

Update 12/19/19

How is everyone this fine day? So sorry for the lack of updates these past few weeks, I have just been so swamped with everything lately. Between interviewing for a new job in my department, schoolwork, and the fact that I’ve been recovering from the flu. I just haven’t been able to get much done. I’m going to try to get back on top of things soon, but I’m still sick at the moment. Hopefully it won’t last too long and I can get back to making more content.

Until then, here is a short pencil test animation I did of Fievel from an American Tail. It was done for Don Bluth University.
Did I mention I’ve been doing that?

Yep, I’m working towards my goal of becoming an animator. I am blessed enough to be able to learn from the master Don Bluth himself. Something I will never take for granted.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Hope you have all been well and are thriving in each of your individual worlds. I didn’t have much time to carve a pumpkin this year, but I did manage to paint a small one. Woof!

It’s been a very strange couple of months, good things have happened, but I also suffered a family trauma. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotion. Anyways, I’ll talk about the really good stuff that has happened this past month in another post later on. I’m going to try and be more active on this blog. I think I might start using it to post any incomplete or unfinished sketches. I feel like it might be a good place to post them.

hope you all have a very spoopy Halloween,

Light Lux Collie ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Set Sail Towards Your Future (2/1/19)

Set Sail Towards Your Future (2/1/19)

“I firmly believe that we all must set sail towards foreign shores and adventure in order to gain insight, knowledge, and wisdom that can be applied towards our own goals and ambitions. It’s a right of passage that we all must take if we are to ever truly become what we were placed on this earth to be.”

-Light Lux collie

Now I have been mulling it over for the past week and for the life of me I couldn’t come up with a good topic for the first official post to this blog which I want to start updating regularly. I wasn’t going to post anything until it finally hit me this morning that it’s not always having a well thought out plan that brings you success, and that sometimes it’s just about taking action. Those first few steps that for many of us seem to be the hardest thing. Now I’ve always been one to analyze, plan, and contemplate for a good while before I typically act on something, and over the past two years of posting art online I learned rather quickly that I needed to go against my nature of over analysis, otherwise I most likely would be crippled by the fear of what isn’t good enough. I would never have started because of it. Those of you who follow me might have noticed that I tend to do overkill when it comes to Saber Collie Studios, even though many people might consider my art to be lackluster or mediocre at best. You see, it’s not that I don’t realize that my art could be better, as much as it is that I would most likely never get around to improving it if I didn’t take action and present it how I would like it to be percieved. How many of us are holding back from pursuing our dreams simply because we feel we aren’t ready yet or we fear what other people might think?

Now listen to me when I say this.

If you are not ready now then when will you be?

Now I know that this isn’t a very long blog post, but It’s a start. It’s all about getting your raft in the water and learning along the way.

So I challenge you this week,

Take those first few steps towards a dream you have been thinking about. Launch your raft. It will never happen until you do.

Have a wonderful rest of your week.

With love,

Light Lux Collie

Happy New Year 2019!

First let me start by saying, Happy New Year 2019! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to embrace a fresh start.

So sorry I have not been active for the last month. As you can imagine, the holiday time is very busy, it also doesn’t help that I work at an aquarium now that has had over 5000 guest a day. Now that New Years is over. I am praying that I will be able to finally get back on schedule.

Just know that Comic-Comic and Denatured will be making their returns shortly. I just need one more week to catch up and they will begin updating regularly again.

I have been pondering where I want to go moving forward in 2019, and after much thought and consideration, I have decided to stop accepting commissions.

Now some of you might be disappointed to hear that, while others will say “Wait, commissions? I didn’t even know you offered those.”

Yes I have always been open for commissions until this point, I realize I didn’t do a very good job at advertising them. That’s on me, and I aplogize if this is upsets you. Just know that I did not reach this desccision lightly. I love to make art for other people and it pains me to have to do this, I just want you to know why I’m doing this and why that’s a good thing.

After much consideration and thought, I’ve decided to put a hold on commissions for the following reasons.

  1. I don’t have the time.

This is probably the biggest reason I reached this conclusion, but it’s not the only one. I just don’t have the time to do them on top of my other projects which I want to see grow. I am using every bit of energy throughout the day and it just doesn’t seem feasible without putting those projects on hold to finish art for other people.

2. I don’t make money off them.

So putting them on hold doesn’t really impact me finacially simply because I barely ever get commissions to begin with. I might get one every one to four months. Which is fine, but it’s not what I hoped it would be.

3. My talent is not where I want it to be.

Let’s face it, I want to keep improving at my art and developing my talent, but I just don’t feel like I’ve reached a point where I can honestly say I feel like a professional. It takes time to develop a skill, I’m miles and miles ahead of where I was a year ago, and I hope to continue that streak, but at this moment in time, I feel as if the majority of people that see my stuff online just seem to overlook it on their way to see porn. It’s upsetting to say the least. A year from now I want to see where I’m at and to see if the demand for commissions grow. It’s obvious to me that people don’t value my work enough to desire a commission. That is why I want to take the time to develop my skills into something more worthy of being desired.

4. I never seem to put the proper value on my prices

When I first started I barely put any value on my art. I charged $5.00 for a single commission. It was because I felt that at the time that was all it was worth. As I grew, I began to raise the prices. Unfortunately I’ve learned that when you undervalue yourself early on, you have a really hard time placing a correct value later. I most of the time feel as if my work is overpriced, but at the same time I get friends and family saying that it’s way undervalued for the quality, time, and effort I put into it. I don’t know which one is right. The only way I can fix this is by improving to the point where I personally feel that my art is worth a certain amount. Which brings me to my next point.

5. I feel like I let people down far too often.

Almost every time I do a commission I feel as if though I don’t put my whole heart into it. I often get the sense that the people who commission me are let down by what I give them. When I present an image and they give me a quick one sentence response, I immediately think, “Shit they hate it.” I realize a lot of that is in my head, but this again ties in with my desire to give you high quality work.

6. No desire to make certain things.

I just have a hard time getting motivated to make art that I feel like doesn’t represent the kind of image I want to do. I made a mistake early on by taking commissions for transformation art. While I personally love making TF art, there is a problem when it comes to doing commissions for it. The issue is that I run into many many people that want me to draw their personal fetish that I might not agree with or that I just don’t find interesting. It doesn’t help motivate me to make it. This doesn’t mean I wont make my own TF art, cause I will. It just means that I don’t want to be known for making specific types of things. I want a more professional SFW atmosphere that I can share with people

So what does this mean? Will you never take commissions again?

No, I want to eventually go back to taking commissions. I just want to make sure that when I do, it is on better terms. So for now, I won’t be taking commissions until I have the met the following criteria.

  1. I find more free time

  2. I am able to afford a better set up and better tools.

  3. I feel that I’ve improved enough.

  4. The is a demand for commissions from me increases.

So you need to know the reason why this is a good thing. This will give me much more free time to work on and grow Denatured, Comic-Comic, as well as a variety of other projects that I will get into later.

So I hope this didn’t put a bummer on your New Year. Again, understand that this is going to benefit my development and growth and that I will eventually go back to taking commissions.

I hope your 2019 is an awesome one.

With Love,

Light Lux Collie

Greetings Saber Collie Family!

I’m back yet again with another update. It’s been hectic lately in the life of your truly. I apologize for the lack of communication, I just thought I’d let you know whats going on.

So sadly the day before Thanksgiving my beloved Grandmother passed away at the age of 90. She unfortunately suffered with alzheimers and had rough time her last few months. Don’t worry about me or my family, we’ve made peace with this and all is well. That being said, it’s been a busy time for me, between the funeral, Thanksgiving, and the fact that I am starting a new job, It hasn’t been easy to manage.

The good news is, now that all that’s behind me, I am free to organize once again. Starting this week I will be posting regular Monday updates on this blog page and will keep you more informed and up to date on the weekly adventures of Saber Collie Studios.

But that’s not all!

I will also be getting back to sending out a weekly email for the people that have subscribed to the newsletter. Those should go out once every Friday or Saturday depending on how busy I am.

Cyber Monday

So because of all that went on, I completely forgot to get ready for Cyber Monday and Black Friday. Now I don’t want to leave anyone hanging who may have wanted a discount. So fret not, as I will be putting together a select day TBD where I will be holding a sale on Commission Prices and Discounted Store Products. I will let you know when that day will be.

Comic-Comic will resume its regular schedule this week 11/28/18 after I failed to update last week on account of my grandmothers funeral.

If you haven’t been paying attention to Denatured lately, I encourage you to go check it out. Things are finally gaining some traction and the story is starting to get real interesting, with much more to come.

Well, that’s it for now. I hope you have an awesome and blessed week ahead of you.

With love,

Light Lux Collie

Whats been happening?

Hello my lovely saber collie family,

I’m sure you have all been wondering, why have the comic updates been so slow lately? I just want to start by saying that NO they are NOT dead. Please understand that I have been very busy lately with my job, family obligations, and to top it off, I have just had the worst case of art block for about four weeks now. I’ve been trying my hardest to get out of this funk, but it hasn’t been easy at all.

That being said, the good news is that this upcoming week. I will be releasing two pages for Denatured, not including the one I posted on Saturday. So please be patient while I get those fleshed out and finished. I am also going to post a new page for Comic-Comic on Wednesday. Hopefully I will be able to get back on schedule, now that I seem to be coming out of my art block state.

In other news,

I will be attending AZFC October 26-28. If anyone is going and would like to meet me. Send me a message or a note and let me know.

That’s all I have for news at the moment. Hope you guy’s are doing well.

Stay Golden,

Light Lux Collie

Denatured will be back on Monday

I apologize for the delay these past weeks,

I’ve been adjusting to a new schedule with my side job and it hasn’t been easy to manage when I was going to draw. The good news is now I have been able to organize my time so that I will have everything on a fluid post schedule. So please note that Denatured will resume this Monday. We will be jumping straight into the main story, and will revisit the backstory legend at a different time.

On another note,

Comic-Comic will not be posting this week as I am now implementing it into my new schedule. It will however resume on Wednesday as normal.

I think that’s about all I have for news at the moment.

Thanks as always,

Light Lux Collie ❤️

News, Updates, New Job, Ect...

So I’m going to be starting a new job on Thursday. I don’t know my schedule yet, but it might impact how I am able to update comics, and when I can work on art. It’s possible that this will be much better for me because my previous line of work required me to stay out late at a time of day I most likely would have had the energy and motivation to make art. So this might help me to create more, it I’m not entirely sure yet.

Denatured Schedule

So I’m giving Denatured an official update schedule. As of now, new pages will become available every Monday, so be sure to check it out. I’ll have the first page up this upcoming week. I may or may not update a few extras just to get the plot moving along, since the first few pages are a backstory. It’ll depend on if I’m busy or not, but I’m hoping to get them done. Anyways, that’s all for now. As always, thank you for your love and support,

Light Lux Collie ❤️

A New Beginning

HELLO EVERYONE!

I am super excited to announce the re-launch of the Saber Collie Studios website. I've been working very hard to make this a reality and I think it's just about there. So I welcome and encourage you to check out everything available on this site.

I'm happy to announce that Denatured has finally launched today, so feel free to give that a look and stay up to date by checking in regularly. As of now it doesn’t have a posting schedule just yet, but I’m working on it.

Some of you may have been following my comic strip that I've been posting each Wednesday. I am happy to announce that it now has a name and a home. Comic-Comic as it is now being called will continue to update each Wednesday. I hope you can get a laugh out of it.

Be sure to follow me on social media to stay up to date and receive regular updates, also i’ll be using this blog to make certain announcements reguarding this site and all things related to it.

Finally, I have put together a new much more organized commission system. If you want to commission me, it must be done by following the instructions and (COMPLETELY) filling out the commission form, after you have read the terms of service.

All that info can be found at the top link where it says commissions.

Welp that’s all I have to say for now, I hope everyone has an awesome day.

With Love,

Light Lux Collie ❤️
